Stressing that “self-confidence” was the key to success along with right skills and means, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday asked students from across the country to challenge themselves to become self-confident.
Speaking at the ‘Pariksha Pe Charcha’, an interactive session in the national capital to address examination-related concerns of students, Modi asked the young audience to always keep the students inside them alive.
“Self confidence comes by challenging ourselves and working hard. We should always think of bettering ourselves,” Modi said at the packed Talkatora Stadium in the heart of the national capital.
“In addition to the right skills and the means, what a student needs is self-confidence,” he added.
Modi further asked his “young friends”, to always keep the student in them alive and concentrate on their goals.
“Concentration isn’t something that has to be specifically learnt. Every person does concentrate on something or the other during the day, it may be while reading, hearing a song, talking to a friend,” he said.
The prime minister said that students should compete with themselves instead of others.
“Do not compete with others, compete with yourself,” he said.
“You are not talking to the Prime Minister of India, you are talking to a friend, I am here as a student let us see how many marks will you give me out of 10,” he said.
Students from across the country gathered to hear Modi in person on how to deal with examination stress. The prime minister has already authored a book on the issue titled ‘Exam Warriors’.
