Committed to enhancing the skills of youth and fostering employment opportunities, the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has achieved significant milestones during the financial year 2023-24.
Specifically, the government has successfully facilitated the employment of 36,843 trained candidates from industrial training institutes. Additionally, through the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, a total of 29,354 trainees have been placed in various companies.
As a result, more than 66,000 youths across the state have gained employment opportunities through vocational education. Notably, these employment opportunities have been extended to students from all 75 districts across the 18 divisions of Uttar Pradesh.
This information was provided in response to a question asked during the budget session of the state assembly on Thursday.
During a session at the assembly, Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Vocational Education and Skill Development, Kapil Dev Aggarwal informed that in accordance with directives from the Chief Minister, significant efforts were underway to seamlessly integrate youth into vocational education across the state. The overarching objective is to facilitate easier employment opportunities for them.
He further elaborated that training was currently offered in 84 trades across industrial training institutes statewide, aligning with the curriculum standards and criteria set by the National Council for Vocational Education and Training (NCVET) of the Government of India.
Additionally, through the Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission, skill training was being imparted in 386 short-term courses in various sectors. These courses include traditional trades as well as contemporary ones such as ITES, Electronics, Aerospace and Aviation, Telecom and Healthcare, reflecting the inclusion of new-age courses, he added.
The department presented details about successfully employed students in the legislative House. Notably, students from all 75 districts of the state have secured employment opportunities following their training in industrial training institutes and skill development courses.
Regarding candidates trained from Industrial Training Institutes, the highest number of 4,824 candidates have been selected from capital Lucknow, followed by 1,901 candidates have been selected from Kanpur city, 1,523 from Gorakhpur and 1,414 candidates from Jhansi.
Similarly, among the candidates trained through the Skill Development Mission, the highest number of 1,448 students have been selected from Gorakhpur, followed by 1,298 from Ghaziabad, 1,168 from Shahjahanpur, 1,141 from Lucknow and 1,009 from Bijnor.
The minister also said under the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gramin Kaushalya Yojana, a total of 91,070 candidates were enrolled in the state from the financial year 2020-21 to 2022-23. Among these candidates, 64,047 individuals underwent skill training, leading to successful employment for 32,796 of them.
Furthermore, the entire training process for the enrolled candidates took place in all districts of the state from the financial year 2020-21 to 2022-23. A total expenditure of Rs 5,46,96,92,573 was incurred on the candidates during these financial years.
It was also mentioned that the Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY) has successfully achieved the goals set by the Centre during these financial years.
