Calling the back-to-back adjournments of both the Houses of Parliament as “unfortunate”, Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader and MP Sudip Bandyopadhyay, on Wednesday, said the ruling and the main Opposition parties are at ‘loggerheads’ with each other.

Sudip Bandyopadhyay was quoted by news agency ANI as saying, “It is most unfortunate that Parliament is not succeeding to commence its session. Whether it’s the ruling party or the main Opposition party, both are at loggerheads with each other.”

However, the TMC MP announced that his party will protest on its own issues and agenda in Parliament and will not join hands with other parties in the meetings called by the Congress leaders.

Alleging that the Congress party is acting in connivance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Communist Party of India (Marxist) in West Bengal, he said, “TMC will protest on its own issues and agenda in the Parliament. In our state (West Bengal), the Congress is totally in connivance with the BJP and the CPM. So, we cannot join hands with the Congress leaders by attending their meetings.”

The second leg of the Budget session of Parliament began after a month-long break on Monday. The recess was for enabling the department-related Parliamentary Standing Committees to examine the demands for grants and make reports relating to their ministries or departments.

However, for the past two days, Parliament is facing repeated disruptions and ruckus in the House in the wake of constant protest by the Opposition.

Earlier on Monday, as many as 16 political parties, excluding TMC, participated in the Opposition party leaders’ meeting chaired by Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge in Parliament.
