Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Anil Vij on Friday said so far 10 patients of H3N2 influenza virus have been detected in Haryana, out of which one has died.

The minister said the Health Department is completely prepared to deal with the H3N2 influenza virus. There is no need for people to panic, he added.

Responding to a question regarding the death of a person in Jind due to H3N2 influenza virus, Vij said directions were given to the health department to probe into this death. He said the deceased patient was suffering from lung cancer, so directions have been given to the health department to investigate whether Death has occurred due to cancer or H3N2 virus.

H3N2 virus is a subtype of Influenza A. In this disease, the patient has problems like high fever, severe headache, pain in the body, sore throat, severe cough, cold and congestion in the lungs. There are a total of 90 cases of H3N2 influenza in India.

“In any such symptoms, it is important to stay hydrated and complete rest is required. Do not eat outside food at all and take a fluid diet. This will give relief soon. Also, keep distance from those who are infected with it and keep your hands sanitized and follow social distancing,” an official said.

He said there is a need to be cautious as the symptoms of H3N2 are similar to Covid infection. Both of these are viral infections which may mutate very fast.
