Following the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, one of the accused in the brutal assault on a Swiss couple in Agra was held, officials said.
As per reports, the 16-year-old boy was among the group of four who attacked the Swiss couple. Police said that the minor boy pelted stones at the couple. The hunt for the remaining three accused is on.
Quentin Jeremy Clerc and his girlfriend Marie Droz arrived in India on September 30 and were attacked by a group of young men place while they were strolling near the railway station at Fatehpur Sikri.
Clerc alleged that a group of young men started following them and after passing comments, they forced the couple to stop so they could take selfies with Marie.
The group then assaulted them leaving Clerc with a fractured skull, a clot in his brain and hearing impairment while his girlfriend has a broken arm and multiple bruises.
Taking note of the news, Swaraj immediately swung into action and sought a report from the Uttar Pradesh government.
She also sent officials to meet the couple in the hospital.
