Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday launched the Location Accessible Multi-modal Initiative (LAccMI) affordable bus service in five more districts. With this expansion, the subsidised transportation service now covers all thirty districts in the state.

LAccMI buses provide affordable local transportation in the rural suburbs of the districts at a nominal cost of Rs 5 for women and students.

The new transportation service was launched in 5 more districts – Balasore, Boudh, Ganjam, Nuapada & Jagatsinghpur – on Wednesday, an official said.

The CM virtually launched the bus service that would directly benefit over 73 lakh citizens across 1,057 Gram Panchayats in these 5 districts. The government has acquired 305 new buses for this purpose.

The government had showcased its commitment by successfully implementing the LAccMI service in all the districts of the state in a remarkably short period.

“The LAccMI bus service will promote connection among people and strengthen social and economic life. It will facilitate students’ access to schools and colleges and link farmers to markets. Moreover, women and students can avail themselves of this service for just Rs 5. The transformation has already begun and the citizens are welcoming wholeheartedly the LAccMI scheme”, Patnaik said in his virtual address.
