New Chhattisgarh governor to take oath on Thursday

Chhattisgarh’s newly-appointed Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan will take oath of office on Thursday.

Harichandan arrived in the state capital, Raipur, this morning. Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, his cabinet colleagues, former chief minister Dr. Raman Singh and Assembly Speaker Dr. Charan Das Mahant welcomed him at Swami Vivekananda Airport.

Chief Justice of Chhattisgarh High Court Arup Kumar Goswami will administer oath of office to Harichandan tomorrow at 11:30 am at the Raj Bhavan. The governor’s speech will be held in the Vidhansabha on March 1.

Welcoming the governor, CM Baghel said, Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan is an experienced political leader. He was MLA for 5 times. Chhattisgarh will be benefited from his experience. “I have full faith that the new governor will work in the interest of Chhattisgarh”, the CM further added.

Assembly Speaker Dr. Charandas Mahant, Education Minister Dr. Premsai Singh Tekam, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, Director General of Police Ashok Juneja, Additional Chief Secretary Subrat Sahu were also present on the occasion.

Leader of the Opposition Narayan Chandel welcomed the new Governor Vishwa Bhushan Harichandan and said, the benefit of his experience in Chhattisgarh will show a new path to the entire state. The people of the state will get the benefit of his experience. Former Leader of Opposition Dharamlal Kaushik said that the new governor has a lot of experience and the state will move forward under his guidance.
