National-level wrestler nabbed in a POCSO case

An absconding national level wrestler, accused and wanted in kidnapping and rape case under the POCSO Act for the last three years, has been eventually arrested by the Crime Branch of Delhi Police.

The accused, who was also wanted in seven cases ranging from murder, attempt to murder, and Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA), had once escaped from the judicial custody in the year 2012.

The accused has been identified as Naresh Sehrawat (38), who is said to be a close aide of desperate Nitu Dabodia and Babloo Ghogha.

Special Commissioner of Police (Crime), Ravindra Singh Yadav said that a case was registered in August 2019, wherein, accused Naresh Sehrawat and his brother-in-law Manjeet had kidnapped a 16-year-old-girl and allegedly sexually assaulted her.

In the case, one of the accused namely Manjeet was arrested in the year 2019. But, the accused Naresh was absconding. He was even declared Proclaimed Offender by the Court.

Meanwhile, a dedicated team led by Inspector Pankaj Malik and Inspector Rohit Kumar, was constituted by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Amit Goel, and a search operation was started.

With the help of electronic surveillance, the accused was successfully traced out in the area of Najafgarh, and was apprehended.

It was revealed that accused Naresh Sehrawat played many wrestling championships at National Level. Olympian Sushil Kumar was his ‘akhara’ mate at Chhatrasal Stadium, Delhi.

He later joined hands with notorious gangster and contact killer Amit and his aides and stepped in the world of crime.
