An alleged assault on Swati Maliwal is shrouded in mystery with the AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP maintaining silence after complaining that she was physically assaulted by one of the members of Arvind Kejriwal’s staff at the Delhi chief minister’s official residence on Monday morning,.
A police official said the former chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) did visit the Civil Lines police station but left without registering a formal complaint.
Speaking to reporters in the alleged incident, DCP North Manoj Meena said, “At 9:34 am, we received a PCR call wherein the caller said she had been assaulted inside the CM residence.”
Responding to the local, the local police, along with the SHO, reached the spot. “After a while, Swati Maliwal came to the Civil Lines police station but left without filing any complaint. So far, no complaint has been received in the matter,” he added.
There has been no report of any reaction in this regard either from the AAP MP’s office, or her party. No reaction has been received from the chief minister’s residence either.
However, Amit Malviya, in charge of BJP’s National Information and Technology Department, took to social media platform X, writing, “AAP RS MP and former DCW chief Swati Maliwal alleges that Delhi CM’s PA assaulted her. Call made from Delhi CM’s House. Remember, Swati Maliwal had maintained radio silence on Kejriwal’s arrest. She was infact not even in India at that time and didn’t return for a long time.”
The Delhi BJP condemned the alleged incident while its chief Virendra Sachdeva demanded an inquiry into the alleged assault on Mahiwal asserting that any such behaviour with a woman can’t be tolerated.
Sachdeva claimed that Swati Maliwal, who is known to be an upfront and outspoken lady, is found missing as she is being traced after making the PCR call she made.
Taking to X, BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said, “Today Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal has complained that Kejriwal’s PA called her to the Chief Minister’s residence and beat her up. What is the use of so much education, Kejriwal ji, if you have not even learned to respect women.”
