BRS supremo and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has alleged that CBI has arrested AAP leader Manish Sisodia in order to divert people’s attention from Adani-Modi ‘nexus’ even as Telangana BJP claimed that his daughter Kavakuntla Kavitha will be arrested next in connection with the Delhi liquor scam.

“We condemn the arrest of Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia by CBI. It is nothing more than diverting people’s attention from the Adani-Modi nexus,” said BRS national president K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Meanwhile, BJP leader G Vivek Venkataswamy on Monday claimed that Kavitha will soon be arrested by the CBI following the arrest of AAP leader and deputy chief minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia. The AAP leader was arrested yesterday in Delhi.

“The Aam Admi Party (AAP) had spoken to Kavitha and made the deal to get funds for elections in Punjab and Gujarat and she gave Rs150 crore to the AAP government. Very soon, like Sisodia, she too will be arrested, said the BJP leader who is a member of the national executive of the BJP.

Initially, it was BJP leader Parvesh Varma and Manjinder Singh Sirsa who had brought up Kavitha’s name in connection with the liquor scam last year. Later she was named in a chargesheet by ED as the one who led the South Liquor lobby along with YSRCP MP Magunta Srinivasalu Reddy and Sarath Reddy of Aravinda Pharma.

According to the ED, the South liquor lobby transferred Rs 100 crore to Vijay Nair of AAP as kickbacks. While Raghav Magunta, son of the YSRCP and Sarath Reddy have been arrested prior to the arrest of Sisodia, the noose might be tightening around Kavitha who has alleged that she was a victim of vendetta politics of BJP ever since she rebuffed their offer to join the party and pull off the “Shinde model” in Telangana. However, instead of being cowed Kavitha has increased her public appearances and is often seen in BRS political programmes along with her father.

Meanwhile, the BRS has criticised the arrest of Sisodia saying that Opposition leaders are being hounded. “How many ED, IT and CBI raids on BJP leaders or their kith and kin in the last eight years? Are those from BJP cousins or relatives of Raja Harihchandra? The country is watching how Prime Minister’s cronies are protected despite serious allegations and how Opposition leaders are hounded,”wrote BRS leader KT Rama Rao on Twitter.

He went on to add: “Target opposition parties by all means at his disposal; either split the parties or poach their MLAs and dislodge elected governments. If nothing works, use their allies; CBI, ED and IT to harass and launch a smear campaign. Back it with a paid troll army.”
