Starting Thursday, February 7, 2018, the operations at the Mumbai airport — the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport — will be affected at various time slots and for different durations, on different days due to the re-carpeting on the intersection of the main and secondary runways, informed the sources.

The main and secondary runways would be temporarily shut for three days a week from 11 am to 5 pm starting from February 7, 2019, to March 30, 2019, thus affecting the operations related to arrivals, departures, and other airport-related chores.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport will not operate flights from 11 am to 5 pm on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, resulting in the cancellation/disruption of around 230 flights on each of these days, which adds up to a big total of  5,520 flights, said an airport official.

However, the airport will operate flights according to the regular itinerary on Thursday, March 21, 2019, on account of the festival of Holi.

The Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport is the second busiest airport in the country in terms of total and international passenger traffic after Delhi with reported passenger traffic of nearly 50 million in 2018.
