Alleging that corruption is prevailing on a large scale in the BJP and corrupt persons are getting protection in the party, BJP Rajya Sabha Member from Madhya Pradesh Ajay Pratap Singh on Saturday resigned from the BJP’s primary membership.
Mr Singh posted his one-line resignation letter on his X account. He said he had also sent his resignation to party president J P Nadda.
Speaking to some media persons in Sidhi city of the state, Singh expressed unhappiness over the BJP’s process of selecting candidates for the Lok Sabha polls and he also condemned the saffron party for indulging in large-scale corruption.
He charged that politics has become a medium of business and the BJP has become a den of political traders. He also claimed that the BJP’s slogan of ‘Viksit Bharat’ is hollow.
Ajay Pratap Singh stated that he found the BJP not suitable to achieve his aim of serving the people, and so he resigned from the party.
Mr Singh’s Rajya Sabha term is scheduled to end on 2 April. The BJP did not re-nominate him for the Upper House of Parliament.
Singh had also asked for a Lok Sabha ticket from Sidhi. However, the party overlooked him again and instead gave the ticket to Rajesh Mishra.
Singh alleged that the BJP had claimed that the Lok Sabha tickets would be allotted on the basis of a survey but that did not reflect in the final selection of candidates.
