Former President Pranab Mukherjee’s daughter Sharmistha, who earlier warned her father against attending the RSS event, on Friday sharply reacted to a fake picture of Mukherjee.
The morphed picture being circulated on the social media shows the senior Congress leader Mukherjee raising his hand up to his chest in the RSS way of salutation, along with other leaders of the organisation.
Talking about what actually happened on the stage, Mukehrjee had stood in attention, while other leaders raised their hands to the chest.

Reacting to the fake image, Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee said that this was what she had feared, adding that “the dirty tricks department of BJP-RSS is at work in full swing”.
“See, this is exactly what I was fearing & warned my father about. Not even few hours have passed, but BJP/RSS dirty tricks dept is at work in full swing!,” she wrote, re-tweeting a tweet showing the morphed picture.

Earlier, Sharmistha on Wednesday had disapproved of her father’s decision to attend the RSS event, saying he was giving the BJP and the Sangh a handle to plant false stories, as his “speech will be forgotten” but the “visuals will remain”.
Sharmistha took to Twitter and warned her father of the consequences of attending such a meet.
Hope @CitiznMukherjee now realises from todays’ incident, how BJP dirty tricks dept operates. Even RSS wouldn’t believe that u r going 2 endorse its views in ur speech. But the speech will be forgotten, visuals will remain & those will be circulated with fake statements. 1/2

Her outburst on Wednesday had come soon after rumours about her joining the BJP cropped up ahead of Mukherjee’s visit to Nagpur.
She dismissed the “rumours” of her joining the BJP as “false” and alleged they were the handiwork of BJP’s “dirty tricks department”.
She said she would rather leave politics than quit the Congress.
