Intensifying his attack on Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan over the monthly pay-off case involving his daughter Veena Vijayan, Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhaladan on Tuesday alleged that Pinarayi is the real culprit in the case.

Addressing a press conference here, Kuzhalnadan said that Chief Minister Vijayan is the real culprit in the monthly pay-off case .He said that Vijayan showed undue interest to help CMRL to retain four land leases for mining mineral beach sand. Kuzzhalnadan alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan acted against the proclaimed policy of the successive governments against allowing private firms in the sector.

“It is true that Veena Vijayan had received money. However, the fact is that Veena received the money for the services rendered by the Chief Minister to CMRL.Since Pinarayi Vijayan came to power, CMRL has been giving Veena up to Rs 5 lakh every month. Apart from this, it is also giving Rs 3 lakh per month to Exalogic company inarayi Vijayan intervened to secure black sand mining permission for CMRL.For that, he changed the industrial policy The Chief Minister asked to re-examine the file where the previous agreement was cancelled,” Kuzhalnadan said

The Kerala Assembly witnessed an uproar and a walkout by the Opposition United Democratic Front (UDF) on Monday after Speaker A.N. Shamseer denied permission to Congress legislator Mathew Kuzhalnadan to level an allegation in the House.

Speaking during the discussion on the State Budget in the afternoon, Mr. Kuzhalnadan announced that he was levelling a “corruption charge” and that he had sought permission in advance as per the rules. Mr. Shamseer had immediately intervened, saying that it could not be allowed.

According to the Speaker, Mr. Kuzhalnadan had sought permission in advance, but the documents he had furnished were not satisfactory

A controversy erupted in Kerala recently over some financial transactions between the Kochi-based private minerals company, CMRL and CM Vijayan’s daughter Veena and her IT firm, Exalogic Solutions.

The Income Tax Interim Settlement Board( ITISB) has found that a total of Rs 1.72 crore was received by Veena Vijayan and her company Exalogic during 2017-20, which was an illegal transaction.

Meanwhile, the Union Government on Monday revealed before the Karnataka High Court that it ordered an investigation by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) since the Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) engaged in sourcing of beach sand minerals along the Kerala coast made illegal payments to the extent of Rs 135 crore to various political functionaries of Kerala state and certain other entities, including Exalogic Solutions.
