Modi to offer prayers, inspect reconstruction work in Kedarnath


Prime Minister Narendra Modi will offer prayers at Kedarnath and also inspect reconstruction work in flash-flood hit valley on Wednesday. The state government has completed all the preparation work for the PM’s visit.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Rawat reviewed the preparation work at his residence in Dehradun on Tuesday and interacted with top bureaucrats of the state government.

Chief Secretary Utpal Kumar Singh informed the Chief Minister that all the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit to Sri Kedarnath Dham have been completed. Snow is being continuously removed from route from VIP helipad to temple. The Kedarnath shrine, located in district Ruderprayag, has been decorated with marigold flower garlands.

BKTC’s executive officer NP Jamloki said, “The decoration work of the temple is complete. The Prime Minister will be performing Rudra Abhishek. Four priests will perform the ritual.”

According to official plan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will arrive at Kedarnath on Wednesday morning and perform prayer. After that he will walk till the confluence of Sarswati-Mandakini rivers. The PM will inspect the reconstruction work. A slide show in the development works being carried out at Kedarnath will also be screened.

The State Disaster Response Force, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering and Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee had to work round-the-clock to complete all the preparation works and also to clear heavy snow from many crucial points. After registering heavy snowfall on Sunday, clear weather prevailed in Kedarnath to help the local administration remove snow from helipad, route connecting the temple and other places.
