Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a five-day visit to Europe from 16 April to attend the India-Nordic Summit and the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Sweden and the United Kingdom respectively, it was officially announced here on Thursday.
The External Affairs Ministry said at the invitation of Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Lofven, Modi will undertake his first visit to Sweden on 16-17 April.
He will arrive in Stockholm on the evening of 16 April and will have a number of meetings the next day, including an audience with King Carl XVI Gustaf and hold consultations with PM Lofven.
Modi will also address a gathering of select Swedish business leaders and also meet the vibrant Indian community in Sweden.
India and Sweden will co-host the India-Nordic Summit in Stockholm on 17 April. The summit will see participation of the Prime Ministers of India and of all the Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden.
On the sidelines of the summit, PM Modi will have separate bilateral meetings with the Prime Ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Norway.
Modi will visit the United Kingdom from 17-20 April for a bilateral visit and CHOGM. The visit will focus on enhancing India-UK tech partnership. The visit will see a number of deliverables in the area of skill development, healthcare, cybersecurity, innovation, traditional medicine, and education.
The India-UK CEOs Forum will also take place during this visit. The UK will also formally convey its readiness to join the International Solar Alliance.
PM Modi will attend CHOGM in London on 19-20 April. The meeting usually takes place every two years and serves to shape CHOGM’s agenda for the next two years, the MEA added.
