A day before the presidential elections, opposition candidate Meira Kumar met Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at his official residence seeking the support of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
On 13 July, AAP had announced its support for the opposition candidate Meira Kumar for the presidential election.
"At the Residence of Hon Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwalji. Thank you for your support & warm hospitality @ArvindKejriwal," Kumar tweeted after the meeting.
In reply, Kejriwal tweeted, "It was a pleasure to meet you Meira ji. Best wishes."
The AAP has 65 MLAs in Delhi and 20 in Punjab, comprisingccccccccc around 1 percent of the Electoral College.
On 19 June, ruling BJP announced Bihar Governor Ram Nath Kovind as its presidential candidate. The presidential election will be held on 17 July 2017, and counting will be done on 20 July 2017.
Voting is scheduled be held from 10 am to 5 pm on 17 July. Election commission officials said voting arrangements have been made at Delhi Assembly where a committee room has been converted into a polling booth.
