A minor wrestler has lodged a complaint against her wrestling coach levelling charges of sexual abuse against him.
Police have lodged the case under the POCSO Act at Saroorpur police station and started an investigation. The accused coach is stated to be at large.
“A case has been registered against the coach under POCSO Act,” said Sanjay Kumar, the SHO of Saroorpur police station, adding that the girl’s statement has been recorded before a magistrate on Monday. Police will initiate apt action accordingly, said the SHO.
The complainant had cherished a desire to become a wrestler. Hence, she started going to the stadium for initial training which she would start with jogging. She met the wrestling coach at the stadium about a year back.
The coach offered to give her training in wrestling and make her a renowned wrestler. The girl then started taking training from him.
In her complaint to the police, the minor girl claimed that during the training sessions he would make objectionable moves which she tolerated only to get proper training. She said that after some time he started exploiting her sexually and even made a video clip of the acts. He would threaten to share the video on social media if she did not accept his demands. This continued for almost a year as she was scared that the videos would be shared on the social media sites.
When she could not take it anymore she decided to tell everything to her family following which a complaint was registered at Saroorpur police station on Saturday.
The police have launched a manhunt for the accused.
