In a disturbing case of sexual exploitation, the Meerut police have arrested two men for allegedly raping their younger sister, a minor, over the last four years. The arrests were made after the girl mustered courage to shoot the act and approach the police with evidence, in a bid to put an end to her ordeal.

A case of rape has been registered at the Civil Lines police station here against the two brothers (23 and 21 years old) on the complaint of their 16-year-old sister.

“The police have arrested both the brothers on charges of rape and sent to jail,” said SP (City) Ranvijay Singh, confirming that the arrests were made on the basis of the evidential video clip furnished by the complainant.

The victim, a student of Class XII, met the SP in his office on Wednesday with a handwritten complaint against her two brothers. She demanded action against her brothers who she alleged had been sexually exploiting her for the last four years.

The girl, who was accompanied by a social activist, also submitted a video clip as evidence.

While the police initially thought complaint had been made due to some family dispute, on seeing the video the SP directed the Civil Line police to register a case against the two brothers and arrest them.

According to the police, the girl’s ordeal started ever since her father died a few years ago. The brother had allegedly threatened her against disclosing this to anyone.

The police said it was the girl’s mother who had advised her to make a video of the act using her phone so that the two could be exposed, as she thought no one would believe her if complained without evidence that her own brothers could do this.

After making the video, the girl approached a social activist who took her to the SP Ranvijay Singh.
