West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday suffered major injuries after she met with an accident, her party, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) said.
The chief minister has been admitted to the state-run SSKM hospital in Kolkata for treatment. She was later seen coming out of the hospital on wheel chair and leaving in her SUV.
Pictures shared by the TMC showed blood rolling down her face from a deep cut on her forehead.
“Our chairperson @MamataOfficial sustained a major injury. Please keep her in your prayers,” the TMC said..

While the TMC has not revealed how and where she met with the accident, it is being said she sustained the injuries at her residence.
Earlier on January this year, Mamata Banerjee had suffered minor head injury after her car met with an accident while returning to Kolkata from Burdwan. However, she refused to see a doctor at that time.
In September 2023, Mamata injured her waist and legs while disembarking from the helicopter in Spain. The chief minister had to undergo microsurgery for the ligament.
In June last year, Banerjee’s helicopter had made an emergency landing near Siliguri following air turbulence.
The chief minister had apparently sustained injuries after the helicopter landed, and was taken to the SSKM Hospital in Kolkata for a checkup.
