The Jat Mahakumbh, a congregation of Jat community people from all parts of northern India, on Sunday demanded that the state government should increase Other Backward Class (OBC) reservation limit to 27 per cent, besides making the point that a Jat should be made the Chief Minister of the state.
The Jat Mahakumbh held at Vidhyadhar Nagar stadium, was attended by farmer leaders Rakesh Tikait, Yudhveer Singh, MPs, MLAs, and Ministers of the State government.
Rameshwar Dudi, a senior Congress leader and Chairman of the State Agro Industries Development Board, said: “Even today our demand is that the next CM should be a Jat. We want the Chief Minister’s seat, and not the number two position”.
Dudi, who lost the previous assembly poll from Nokha assembly constituency in Bikaner district, suggested that Jats should give up the habit of pulling each other’s legs.
Rakesh Tikait called upon the farmers that they should be ready for agitation as the government has decided to stop the use of 10-year-old tractors.
“We will have to agitate once more. We have to make our tractors as a tank. I came here 23 years ago. I have come again today. Our society needs to be united,” he said.
Hemaram Chaudhary, Forest Minister, said sarcastically: “How many rights do the ministers have in Rajasthan ? The society asks questions but it is also a question that the minister knows how many rights are there in the hands of the minister.”
Rajasthan Tourism Minister Vishvendra Singh said: “When the Mandal Commission came into force, I had resigned from the post of MP. I was the first Jat MP to resign against the Mandal Commission.”
BJP State President Satish Poonia, Congress State President Govind Singh Dotasara, Congress Ministers Vishvendra Singh, Ramlal Jat, Hemaram Chowdhary, Brijendra Ola, Union Minister Kailash Chowdhary, MP Sumedhanand, MLAs Alok Beniwal, Manjit Dharampal, and Rita Chowdhary were present on the dais.
Krishna Poonia, Narendra Budhania, Ruparam Muravatia, Harish Chowdhary, and Chairman of State Agro Industries Development Board Rameshwar Dudi, BJP MP Dushyant Singh, Jat Mahasabha State President Rajaram Meel, Patron Vijay Poonia, Youth Jat Mahasabha State President Kuldeep Dheva, and Program Organizing Committee Member Suresh Chowdhary also graced the dais.
