In an interesting turn of events, Reliance Chairman Mukesh Ambani has endorsed Congress candidate from Mumbai South constituency, Milind Deora, in a video tweeted by the latter.
“Milind is the man for South Mumbai… Milind has in-depth knowledge of social, economic and cultural eco-system of the South Bombay constituency,” Ambani is seen saying in the video.
A few other entrepreneurs are also seen backing Milind Deora on his candidature for the Lok Sabha polls.
The leader also tweets on the video: “From small shopkeepers to large industrialists – for everyone, South Mumbai means business. We need to bring businesses back to Mumbai and make job creation for our youth a top priority”.
The Congress has focused majorly on the issues of unemployment and job creation this poll season.

In a surprise turn of events, Deora was appointed Mumbai Congress chief earlier in March, replacing Nirupam, who has been named the Congress candidate from Mumbai North West.
This comes as the Congress has been frequently attacking Mukesh Ambani’s brother Anil Ambani and the BJP government over “irregularities” in the Rafale deal.
Earlier on Sunday, the Congress had accused Anil Ambani’s Reliance of getting special benefit from the French government in the form of the tax settlement days after the deal for the Rafale fighter jets was signed.
Previously, while addressing a public rally in Karnataka’s Chitradurga, Congress president Rahul Gandhi had said that the 2019 Lok Sabha election is a fight between Anil Ambani and ordinary people.
