The Lok Sabha on Thursday rejected the amendments proposed to the Finance Bill 2017 by the Rajya Sabha with Finance Minister Arun Jaitley saying that he could not accept the amendments suggested by the upper house.

Replying to a short debate on the amendments in the Lok Sabha, the Minister said: "I can't accept five amendments suggested by Rajya Sabha to the Finance bill."

The Rajya Sabha on Wednesday suggested five amendments in the Finance Bill and returned it to the Lok Sabha.

The government had moved as many as 40 amendments in the Finance Bill, that were added to the bill at the last moment.

The Bill, being a money bill, will now go to the President for approval before becoming law.
