The Ladakh administration has initiated steps for the construction of Ladakh Bhavan in Chandigarh and passenger facility centres at Keylong in Himachal Pradesh and Sonamarg in Kashmir.
Ajeet Kumar Sahu, commissioner/secretary, Public Works Department (PWD), who is also managing director, Sindhu Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (SIDCO), chaired a meeting to review the progress of various infrastructural projects of the SIDCO.
During the meeting, the status of allocation of land for the proposed Ladakh Bhawan at Chandigarh was discussed in detail.
The Ladakh Bhawan at Chandigarh aims to provide assistance to patients, students, and officials from Ladakh seeking coordination and support. The UT Administration has already made payment to the Chandigarh administration for allotment of land and an allotment order is expected to be issued shortly.
Further, allotment of land for passenger facilitation centres in Ladakh, including Upshi, and Padum; Keylong in Himachal Pradesh and Sonamarg in J&K were discussed. The Ladakh administration intends to develop multipurpose passenger facility centres at various locations at Ladakh and entry points in Keylong and Sonamarg. Ladakh administration has already approached the concerned states i.e. Himachal Pradesh and J&K for allotment of land for this purpose.
The managing director asked the general manager (projects) to appoint an architect and a structural consultant for the SIDCO on immediate basis to take up various infrastructure projects. He further directed the executive director to take early action on taking over assets and properties of JKTDC, JKSRTC, and SICOP located in Ladakh as per the decision of the government.
Besides, the MD reviewed the compliance status of the statutory requirements of the corporation, notification of recruitment rules and hiring of manpower for the corporation.
Taking stock of the progress of work Commissioner/Secretary asked the concerned officials to ensure timely completion of work and meet the targets in the set timeline.
