President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday accepted the resignation of Food Processing Industries Minister Pashu Pati Kumar Paras and gave the charge of the ministry to Union minister Kiren Rijiju in addition to his existing portfolio.
”The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has accepted the resignation of Shri Pashu Pati Kumar Paras from the Union Council of Ministers, with immediate effect, under clause (2) of Article 75 of the Constitution. Further, as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Shri Kiren Rijiju, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, in addition to his existing portfolio,” a Rashtrapati Bhavan communique said.
Paras resigned on Tuesday after accusing the BJP of doing injustice with his Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) by excluding it from the seat-sharing deal with allies for the Lok Sabha polls in Bihar.
