Kingpin in a Rs 1-crore ransom case arrested


The Special Staff of Rohini District Police has arrested Gaurav Khanna, 31, a resident of Jhajjar, Haryana, the main conspirator in the case of firing at a petrol pump and demanding Rs 1 crore as ransom from the owner of the petrol pump.

The accused is said to be an accomplice of gangster Naresh Sethi, whose three accomplices had been arrested earlier in this extortion case.

Deputy Commissioner of Police, Rohini District, Guriqbal Singh said that information about firing at the Indian Oil Petrol pump was reported at Begumpur Police Station on November 4.

A case was registered in the matter and an investigation was taken up. In the meantime, the owner of the petrol pump Anil Sharma lodged a complaint about threat calls and the demand of Rs 1 crore as ransom.

Keeping in view the sensitivity of the case, several police teams were constituted and a search for the accused was started. During the search operation one accused Aakash followed by Sagar and Abhishek were arrested.

Police started searching for the absconding accused Gaurav. During the continuous raids, the main conspirator Gaurav Khanna was arrested. Further legal action against the accused is being taken.
