Kerala: UDF boycotts all-party meet on wild animal attacks in Wayanad

The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) on Tuesday boycotted the all-party meeting convened at Sultan Bathery in Wayanad in the context of increasing number of wild animal attacks in the hilly district.

The UDF representatives boycotted the meeting, urging Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to visit Wayanad. They also demanded the resignation of Forest Minister AK Saseendran.

The UDF members said that the discussions in the all-party meeting regarding the serious threat being faced by the people should take place in the presence of the Chief Minister.

After boycotting the meeting, Congress MLA T Siddique said that the need of the hour in Wayanad is not discussion but action. He said the UDF has boycotted the all-party meeting considering the sentiments of the people of Wayanad.

“The people of Wayanad should be able to live here. The people of Wayanad are now being thrown to wild animals like flies. The chief minister should visit Wayanad. The Forest Minister should be removed from the post and the charge of the district should be taken away from him,” Siddique said.

Forest Minister AK Saseendran, Local Self Government Minister MB Rajesh and Revenue Minister Rajan attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Youth Congress workers waved black flags at the ministers who reached Wayanad to attend the all -party meeting.

It is worth noting that three persons have been killed in wild animal attacks in Wayanad in the recent weeks.
