The Congress leadership in Kerala is learnt to have restrained the Youth Congress from organising programmes with the participation of Shashi Tharoor MP, who contested in the Congress party president election recently.
It has been reported that the Congress leadership has given instructions to the Youth Congress not to conduct programmes with the participation of Shashi Tharoor.
Following this, the Youth Congress has backed off from a seminar titled ‘Sangh Parivar and the challenges faced by Indian secularism’ to be held in Kozhikode on Sunday. Instead of the Youth Congress, the seminar will now be conducted by the Jawahar Youth Foundation, a Congress cultural organisation
Tharoor will start his tour programmes in Malabar on Sunday. He will be attending various functions in Kozhikode, Kannur and Malappuram districts in the coming days.
MK Raghavan MP is coordinating Tharoor’s programmes in Malabar. MK Raghavan has given open support to Tharoor in the Congress presidential election.
In the Congress party presidential election, Tharoor lost to veteran Congressman Mallikarjun Kharge by 6,825 votes
