The Kochi City Police, on Wednesday, took businessman Boby Chemmanur
into custody in connection with a case registered against him for
allegedly making obscene remarks against actor Honey Rose.

Boby was arrested from his estate at Meppadi in the Wayanad district
of the state. He was reportedly taken into custody by a police team
while trying to abscond and file for anticipatory bail. His arrest
came barely 24 hours after the case was registered against him.

The police had been closely monitoring the businessman’s movements
after Rose filed a complaint against him. On learning that he had
moved to a resort in Wayanad, the Kochi Police informed the local
police. A police team from Kochi also arrived at Meppadi and took him
into custody on Wednesday.

The popular Malayalam actor filed her complaint against Boby at the
Ernakulam Central Police Station Honey Rose on Tuesday, accusing him
of making repeated sexually inappropriate remarks that insulted
womanhood. In her complaint, she highlighted sexual harassment she
faced during the inauguration of Chemmanur’s jewellery store in
Alakode, Kannur, on August 7. She detailed the difficulties she
encountered on various platforms following the incident.

Based on Rose’s complaint, the Ernakulam Central Police registered the
case against Boby under BNS section 75(1)(4) for making sexually
coloured remarks and section 67 of the IT Act for publishing and
transmitting obscene material in electronic form.

In an Instagram post, addressing Boby Chemmanur, Honey Rose stated,
“There will be complaints against your associates also soon, who seem
to share your mental state. You may believe in the power of your
money, but I believe in the strength of the judicial system of India.”

Earlier Boby Chemmanur faced public backlash for making objectionable
comments about Honey Rose during a jewelry store inauguration. In her
initial post on January 5, the actor refrained from naming him.

“When an individual persistently follows and tries to insult me using
innuendos, people close to me ask whether I remain silent because I
enjoy such statements or because I agree with everything being said.
This individual invited me to certain events, but I refused to attend.
In retaliation, they began deliberately showing up at events I attend
and, whenever possible, publicly making disparaging remarks about me
in ways that demean womanhood through media outlets,” the actor had
then said.
