Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday took a dig at Congress president Rahul Gandhi following the Supreme Court verdict which rejected a demand for an independent probe into the alleged mysterious death of CBI Judge Brijmohan Harikishan Loya.
In two tweets written in Hindi from his official Twitter handle, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader claimed that the verdict exposes the ugly face of the Congress and alleged that Gandhi attempts to defame anyone who wants to run the country smoothly.
“The plea in Justice Loya death case has been rejected. It clearly exposes the ugly face of the Congress party. The complaint by Rahul Gandhi and 150 other MPs came out to be a sack of lies,” wrote Adityanath.
#JudgeLoya

“Rahul Gandhi doesn’t want anyone other than the Gandhi family to run the nation. And he relentlessly tries to destroy the image of anyone who runs the nation properly,” alleged Adityanath in a second tweet.

In a press conference held in New Delhi today, BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra claimed that the nation has lost faith in Rahul Gandhi.
“I would like to tell you, Rahul Gandhi, that you have lost the faith of the people of this country. You lost power because of your inaction and this is why you are burning with the desire for revenge,” Patra said.
Earlier today, a three-judge Bench comprising Chief Justice Dipak Misra, Justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud pronounced its verdict following an extensive hearing in the demand for an independent probe which began on 2 February.
The court said that there is no reason to doubt the statement of four judges who were with Judge Loya on the last day of his life because that would tantamount to doubting the integrity of the judiciary. The four judges – J Kulkarni, J Barde, J Modak and JRR Rathi – had termed his death as “natural”.
The apex court had on 16 March reserved its verdict on a batch of five petitions seeking an independent probe.
The bench had during one of the hearings stated that it will not hesitate to order an investigation “if our conscience is aroused to order inquiry” in public interest.
Official records state that Judge Loya died of a heart attack on 1 December 2014 when he had gone to attend the wedding of a colleague’s daughter.
Tehseen Poonawalla, one of the petitioners, told reporters that the verdict was “very disappointing”.
