J&K administration failed to meet aspirations of people: Altaf Bukhari

Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari, on Tuesday, said that the Lt. Governor’s administration has completely failed to stand up to the expectations of people and has led to the suffering of the general masses in J&K.

Addressing party activists after inaugurating an additional wing at the party office here, Bukhari demanded restoration of statehood to J&K and holding of early assembly elections to end sufferings of the people amid growing economic crisis, unemployment and underdevelopment.

He said electricity and water supply system has almost collapsed in Kashmir and parts of Jammu region with the onset of winter season. The power department has imposed 18 hours long power cuts in many areas and it has left people hopeless in absence of an elected government.

Bukhari said that “failure of the LG administration has put the people in a difficult situation. Economic crises, unscheduled power cuts, improper water supply, horticulture, agriculture, underdevelopment and unemployment are among the burning issues which are being faced by the people in J&K”.

“In this situation,” he said, “restoration of statehood and holding of early assembly elections in J&K is a must. The delay in holding of assembly elections will further add to the problems and it would not be suitable for J&K where people had hopes with the LG administration.”

He said in the last four years of LG rule, underdevelopment and unemployment has increased manifold in all the regions and people desperately want statehood back and holding of assembly elections to end the growing feeling of alienation.

A politically elected government is answerable to the people, he said while highlighting the policy and agenda of Apni Party for equitable development and employment.

On this occasion, dozens of students joined the Apni Party in presence of Bukhari, General Secretary, Vijay Bakaya, Provincial President, Jammu, Manjit Singh and other senior leaders of the party.

Bukhari welcomed the youth into the partyfold and hoped their joining would strengthen the party at the grassroots level.

He also discussed with them the issues faced by the young generation and assured them all support from the party.
