Jeweller robbed, on gunpoint, of gold worth Rs 50 lakh in East Delhi


A gang of robbers looted gold ornaments worth Rs 50 lakh at gun point from a jeweller from Chandni Chowk in Delhi on Friday.

The incident took place on Thursday evening in the Geeta Colony area of East Delhi when Vikash Mehra (50), the jeweller from the Preet Vihar area was on his way back to the home by his car with 900 grams of gold.

As he crossed the Yamuna River through the Geeta Colony flyover, four bike-borne miscreants overtook his car and stopped him. Then the miscreants got down from their bike and one pointed a pistol at the jeweller.

Others immediately broke the glass of the car with a hammer and took out the bag containing gold from the back seat of the car and vanished within minutes.

On receipt of the complaint, the Police registered the case and investigation is going on to nab the robbers.

The policemen investigating the incident have been examining the CCTV footage from the spot to identify the robbers.
