External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said on Tuesday that she had spoken to India’s Ambassador in Afghanistan Manpreet Vohra following a blast in Kabul’s heavily-fortified diplomatic area and that all Indians were safe.
“I have spoken to Indian Ambassador. He has informed me that all Indians there are safe,” the minister said in a tweet.
At least five persons were killed and many others injured when an explosion ripped through Kabul’s heavily-fortified Wazir Akbar Khan diplomatic area on Tuesday. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
The Afghan Health Ministry confirmed that at least five people, mostly government employees, had died and nearly 30 others were injured, the Afghan media reported.
