Gujarati Parents, Bhavesh and Dhara Shah, are not allowed to meet their daughter, Ariha. The 7-month-old baby was taken away from her parents by the German Authorities when a doctor found blood on her diaper. According to the authorities, if she plays with her parents, she gets tired and it isn’t advisable for her. In what world, a baby is not allowed to meet her parents. It’s certainly a violation of human rights.
It’s been 1.5 years since the baby is under foster care. Now that the parents have requested the authorities to allow either of her parents to live with her, they vehemently declined to do so, saying that there is no space to host another parent in the foster home till August.
The mother of the baby, Dhara, told the Mirror that there was a hearing in the case in a local court on 20 February that continued for at least 4-5 hours, but the parents were not given any valid reason for which the German Authorities snatched their baby from them. The next court hearing is scheduled for May 5.
“Ariha will complete two years in foster care in August and according to the German Principle of Continuity, if a child is in foster care for two years, the child may not be returned to the parents as he/she will be unable to cope with the culture shock,” said Dhara.
The German Authorities have become so ruthless that they are not even allowing Ariha to meet her real parents more than once a month. When she meets them, she plays a lot which makes the 17-month-old baby tired. And this provides the authorities an excuse to keep her under foster care. They say playing with parents is not good for her health.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to meet German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on February 25 and 26 in Delhi. This meet has kindled a glimmer of hope for the Shah Family. Indians are in support of the family. We are doing everything possible to bring the baby back to her parents who she belongs to.
