Millions of Indians are observing the one-day unofficial lockdown in the nation, ‘Janta Curfew’ a move proposed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to tackle the deadly novel coronavirus.
The streets are deserted and people are locked in their houses to make the roads ‘human free’ to avoid the spread of coronavirus. The mega social distancing event which was announced by the Prime Minister on Friday has got a positive response by the people till now.
Delhi police has been seen taking the Janta Curfew very positively, as the cops were seen giving red roses to those who are roaming on the streets and asked them to cooperate in the move by stating back in their homes.
Delhi police have urged the people to stay home and avoid coming on streets to support the Janta Curfew. In a tweet, DCP New Delhi said, “We are on the roads for your safety. Please stay at Home!!”

Delhi Police also thrashed the rumors of Rs 11,000 fine against those who will defy the order of Janta Curfew.
“We have spotted this fake notice being circulated purportedly issued by Delhi Police. We have not issued any such advisory on imposition of a fine on March 22. Please tell your family and friends that this is false and fake,” read a tweet by Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) South Delhi.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has said the virus spreads through person-to-person contact and respiratory droplets.
PM Modi proposed the idea of ‘Janta Curfew’ for a day that also for 14 hours to encourage the people to avoid contact and make themselves vulnerable for the deadly virus.
“Let us all be a part of this curfew, which will add tremendous strength to the fight against COVID-19 menace. The steps we take now will help in the times to come,” PM Modi tweeted hours before the unofficial lockdown.
Indian Railways also supported PM’s initiative as it declared all the trains on Sunday to remain cancelled in view of the Janta Curfew. All passenger trains running from 4 am to 9 pm on Sunday are cancelled due to the virus.
Delhi Metro also announced non-functioning of its trains to avoid any transportation of people on Sunday to support the ‘Janta Curfew’.
As of now, there are 341 cases of coronavirus with 6 deaths reported in the country.
