India, Pakistan trade heavy fire on LoC

The Indian and Pakistani Army traded heavy fire on Tuesday on the Line of Control (LoC) in Poonch and Rajouri districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the Defence Ministry, The Pakistani Army targeted Indian positions in Poonch’s Bhimber Gali sector and in Rajouri’s Balakote, Manjakote, Lambi Bari and Naika Panjgrian areas.

No damage or casualty has been reported, the officials said.

Using small arms, automatics and mortars, they started unprovoked shelling and firing at around 8.45 a.m. Indian troops are retaliating strongly and effectively, they added.

The Pakistani army has been violating the bilateral ceasefire agreement in Uri of Baramulla district intermittently for the last four days.

Earlier on Monday, Speaking to the media, Lieutenant General A.K. Bhatt, commander of army’s Srinagar headquartered 15 Corps said: “We have inputs that many infiltrators are waiting at the launching pads. We think infiltration will start sooner this year (2018) because of less snow.”
