Congress Media and Publicity Chairman Pawan Khera on Sunday said that the country needed a responsible Prime Minister, not a ‘Prachar Mantri’ (publicity minister) as he behaved and lectured in the Lok Sabha in his reply on the Opposition’s No-Confidence Motion.

“When will Prime Minister Narendra Modi visit Manipur? Will he visit Manipur when elections are held? Wherever you see, the Prime Minister goes only to ask for votes. When elections are held, they go to collect votes. Where there is any trouble in the country, the Prime Minister’s mouth is closed, phone is closed, eyes are closed,” Khera told a press conference at the PCC headquarters here.

“Thus, this country needs a responsible prime minister, not a publicity minister,” he suggested.

When asked about the CM face in the upcoming assembly polls in Rajasthan in December this year, he said, “Face questions arise when we are sitting in the opposition. When we are sitting here in power, there is a government,”

“The PCC President is in front of you, Gehlot ji’s face is in front of you and our process of electing a leader, then that question does not arise. Gehlot is our popular leader, so the slogan of CM will be raised for the fourth time. Gehlot is our popular leader, such a popular leader, there should not be any question about him,” he said.

Recalling the PM’s address in the Lok Sabha, he said: “People have seen the proceedings and listened to him for 2 hours 13 minutes. The PM was laughing. Silly joke was going on. Sloganeering was going on. On the one hand, women are being raped in Manipur, in such a situation, if this kind of behavior is not demonic mentality, then what is?”
