In 2 months, Pakistan violated ceasefire 633 times along LoC, IB

Rajya Sabha on Wednesday was informed that Pakistan has violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) and the International Border (IB) in Jammu and Kashmir as many as 633 times in the first two months this year.

Pakistan has violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir 432 times and along the IB 201 times in January and February 2018, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir said.

Earlier in 2017, According to government reports, there were 860 incidents of ceasefire violation along the LoC and 111 incidents of ceasefire violation along the IB in Jammu and Kashmir.

India shares a 3,323-km-long border with Pakistan, of which 221 km of the IB and 740 km of the LoC fall in Jammu and Kashmir.

The highest number of such violations took place in 2002, when 8,376 incidents were reported, while 2,045 incidents of ceasefire violations were reported in 2003.

The ceasefire between India and Pakistan along the International Border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir came into force in November 2003.
