I-T department summons Lalu’s daughter Misa Bharti

The Income Tax Department on Wednesday summoned RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s daughter Misa Bharti, her husband Shailesh in the money-laundering case, a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Bharti’s Chartered Accountant (CA) Rajesh Agarwal.

The ED on Tuesday arrested her Chartered Accountant (CA) Rajesh Agarwal in a Rs. 8,000-crore money laundering case.

According to report, Agarwal, who provided money to Misa Bharti’s company, was arrested under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The I-T department had on 17 May raided the properties of Yadav’s son and daughter, a day after it swooped on the RJD leader in connection with the benami land deal case.

The raids were conducted at nearly 22 locations in Delhi and adjoining areas in connection with the alleged benami deals worth Rs.1,000 crore being linked to Lalu and others.

Officials said the department raided the premises of some prominent businessmen and real estate agents in Delhi, Gurugram, Rewari and other places.
