The farmhouse in which Shah Rukh Khan celebrated his birthday in 2017 with friends and family members has been attached by the income-tax (I-T) department.

I-T department provisionally attached the actor’s 19,500 sq ft property located in Alibaug, approximately 95 kilometres from Mumbai. According to reports, the attachment notice has been issued under Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016.

According to the department, Déjà Vu Farms allegedly purchased the land for agricultural purposes but converted it into a farmhouse for personal use. Déjà Vu Farms has on its board SRK’s in-laws.

According to law, the attachment of the property could be for at most 90 days from the date the notice was issued.

The convicted under the Act can get a rigorous imprisonment for a term not less than one year up to seven years. The guilty will also be liable to fine which may extend to 25 per cent of the fair market value of the property.
