In a video which went viral on social media, a livid Kamineni said that she feels “cheated as a citizen”.
“I feel cheated as a citizen. Does my vote not count?” Kamineni said while displaying her voter identity card.
“This is the worst day for me as an Indian citizen,” she said, adding, “I come to the booth, and I’m told that my vote is deleted.”
Calling it a “crime” against her as a citizen, Kamineni said that she “will not tolerate it”.

Kamineni is a voter from Hyderabad and was at the polling booth at Masab Tank when she discovered that her name was not in the list. She had arrived in the city from a business trip abroad only on Wednesday just to vote.
Reports say that Kamineni’s name was in the voters’ list when she checked last week. She said that she had also voted at the same booth for the Telangana assembly election in December.
Kamineni is the daughter of Apollo hospitals chairman Prathap C Reddy and the sister-in-law of a Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha polls from Chevella.
Voting for the 17 Lok Sabha seats of Telangana is being held in a single round. Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief of AIMIM is seeking re-election in this constituency which has remained his party’s stronghold since 1984.
