Yesteryear Bollywood star Jeetendra was booked by Himachal Pradesh Police for ‘sexually assaulting’ his cousin way back in 1971.

Confirming the development, Superintendent of Police, Shimla, Omapati Jamwal said a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the Bollywood star and the police officials are further investigating the case.

Sources said though the police have booked Jeetendra in sexual assault case, it would be tough for them to collect evidence and prove the case.

“Police officials are likely to summon the complainant in the case in coming days as they have only received the complaint on email and are yet to record her version,” sources said.

Later, Jeetendra may be summoned to record his version in the case.

It is worthwhile to mention here that the actor’s cousin had filed a complaint with HP Police on 7 February, accusing Jitendra of sexual assault.

In her complaint, the victim had alleged she was 18 years old when the incident took place while the actor was 28 years old at the time of the incident.

“I knew Ravi Kapoor, known by the stage name of Jeetendra as he used to visit us at Delhi for family gatherings. Though, I haven’t met him personally,” she had alleged.

It was in 1971 when the actor approached her father and asked him whether she could join him for a film shoot in Shimla.

She had alleged that the actor brought her to Shimla from Delhi and they stayed in a hotel room which had two separate beds. “I was sleeping when the actor came to the room in inebriated state and tried to force himself on her to which she objected. But the actor continued to sexually harass her,” the victim alleged, adding the actor didn’t talk to her the next day and dropped her at her Delhi residence.

She claimed that she didn’t approach the police for the fear of her parents getting emotionally hurt over the incident and she reported the matter after the death of her parents.

Her complaint seemed to be part of global #metoo campaign against sexual violence and the victim said by filing the complaint she wanted to get closure and healing for indelible marks on her soul for years due to mental trauma after the abuse.
