The Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur, organised its first physical alumni meet “R.O.O.T.S.: Revisiting Our Old Times & Stories” on February 24th, 2024 (Saturday) on the HNLU campus in Nava Raipur, Chhattisgarh.
The event saw a gathering of 80 alumni from across the first to the latest batches comprising civil judges, advocates, corporate lawyers, academicians and other legal practitioners to reconnect, and reminisce in their alma mater. Set against the backdrop of HNLU’s sprawling campus, the attendees had a day filled with engaging activities, networking opportunities, and insightful discussions.
The alumni meet featured a range of activities tailored to appeal to alumni from various batches and backgrounds. The key events of the programme included a welcome address by Vice-Chancellor Dr. V.C. Vivekanandan wherein he remarked, ‘Call it Providence or Coincidence it is a collective destiny of Alumni, faculty and staff of two decades of legal excellence of HNLU.
The University will be having roving alumni meets in major cities to connect who could not make it this year and it demonstrates ‘All is Well’ at HNLU to take its rightful place among the National Law Schools of India.” Prof. Dr. Avinash Samal, Dean of Student Welfare remarked, “The University is making great strides in all fronts of Academic excellence, infrastructure, Faculty welfare and Staff welfare”.
The event also had Advocate Siddharth Gupta, CEO of CAN Foundation, briefing the activities of the foundation and briefed on the forthcoming joint conference of HNLU- CAN with eminent Jurists in March 2024. Dr. Vipan Kumar, in-charge Registrar, delivered the vote of thanks.
The successful event is the result of the painstaking efforts by the Alumni Affairs Committee headed by Dr. Anindya Tiwari and other faculty who were also Alumni of HNLU.
R.O.O.T.S saw a day-long event events of indoor/ outdoor games such as an Alumni v/s Present Students Cricket Match, HNLU quiz, Campus Tour, cultural performances showcasing the talents of HNLU alumni and students in ‘Karwaan-Revisted’ and an off-site dinner at Mayfair Lake Resort, Nawa Raipur, Atal Nagar. The successful event has set the road map for the future annual event of R.O.O.T.S.
