Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister, Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu placed before the Centre a few demands when he called on Union Minister of State for Science and Technology, Space and Atomic Energy, Dr Jitendra Singh in New Delhi on Tuesday.
According to information, the major demands were weather observatories and high tech seismic laboratory cum data analysis centres saying that the State was more prone to natural calamities. Others include the nuclear medicine department in a medical college, technological support for scientific methodology of farming, and an aroma mission in Chamba district.
He said that the State Government should set up department of nuclear medicine in a medical college so that facilities of radiation therapy could be provided to cancer patients.

According to CM, the need of the hour was to adopt modern scientific methodology of farming instead of practising traditional methods.
Sukhu urged the Centre to organise training for the farmers and horticulturists to make them acquainted with the new techniques and that the new techniques will help farmers improve the quality of their produce.
The Chief Minister demanded inclusion of Chamba district under the ‘Aroma Mission’ for cultivation of Lavender plants and to provide technological support to the farmers for the same, it was informed.
He requested the Centre to set up a high tech seismic laboratory cum data analysis centre in Kangra and Hamirpur seismic zone keeping in mind the vulnerability of the State to earthquakes.
Dr Singh lauded the concern of the Chief Minister towards the Himalayan ecology and assured him of all possible support from the Centre.
