Heavy rush of devotees in Ram Temple on ‘Paush Purnima’


A large number of devotees reached Ayodhya on the occasion of ‘Paush Purnima’ ( auspicious day to seek blessings from the Moon God ) on Thursday and around one lakh devotees already had darshan of Ram Lalla till late afternoon.

Devotees took bath in the Saryu river and then headed towards the Ram temple for darshan in the morning. Despite the massive crowd, darshan is being conducted smoothly in the temple.

The RPF and police personnel deployed for security from the entrance of Janmabhoomi Path are allowing people to enter the Ram temple only in a queue.

Proceeding from the Janmabhoomi Path, hordes of Ram devotees headed towards the main complex after depositing their belongings and mobile phones at the Pilgrim Facilitation Centre.

According to administrative estimates, by 5 PM, more than one lakh devotees had darshan of Ram Lalla, officials said.

The darshan which started at 6 am continued uninterrupted except for 15 to 20 minutes during Aarti and ‘Bhog’. Even during this time, devotees were not being stopped from entering the pavilion. The darshan resumed immediately after the aarti is done.

Meanwhile, officials here on Thursday said devotees were continuously arriving despite the harsh cold conditions.

Huge crowds have reached for darshan of Shri Ram Lalla in the past three days. Ram temple has received record-breaking offerings of Rs 3.17 crore in the first two days. Besides, the new Ayodhya airport operated 123 flights and more than eight lakh people had darshan of Ram Lalla in the first two days.

More than 10 crore devotees are expected to come every year in Ayodhya, officials claimed.
