Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij has said that the state’s Transport Department will soon purchase 750 buses. Electronic centers will also be set up to ensure the fitness of all buses.
Residents of Gurugram will soon get a state-of-the-art Millennium Bus Terminal equipped with all necessary passenger facilities, he said.
Vij was interacting with the journalists after a surprise inspection of the bus terminal in Gurugram on Wednesday.
During a surprise inspection Vij directed General Manager, Haryana Roadways, Pradeep Kumar to improve cleanliness at the bus stand.
The Transport Minister said that the land has been acquired for the new Gurugram bus terminal, and a detailed project report is being prepared for it. Work will commence soon, he said.
Until the new terminal is ready, he emphasised maintaining cleanliness, providing potable water, and ensuring approved food items are available for passengers at the present bus terminal.
Responding to a question about food quality at bus terminals, Vij said that food safety officers have been directed to collect samples from Gurugram terminal.
A policy is being implemented to ban unapproved food items at all Haryana bus terminals, ensuring passengers get hygienic and standard-compliant food and beverages, he said.
Later, Vij inspected the office of the Superintending Engineer, Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (HVPN), Gurugram, reviewed files related to equipment purchases and directed the ACS, Energy Department to investigate documents related to equipment procurement.
Vij also revealed that the 800 MW thermal power plant in Yamunanagar has received environmental clearance, and work will commence soon.
