Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and his Cabinet ministers on Tuesday tendered their resignation to Governor Bandaru Dattatreya as BJP broke alliance with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP.
“CM and cabinet ministers have resigned and the Governor has accepted the resignations…,” BJP leader Kanwar Pal Gujjar said.
When asked who will become the chief minister, Gujjar said that Khattar will once again become the Haryana chief minister.
“Bilkul thik hain, CM sahab hi CM sahab rahenge,” he said.
The BJP has also snapped ties with Dushyant Chautala’s JJP and will form a new government with the help of independents and Haryana Lokhit Party MLA Gopal Kanda.
Dushyant Chautala had met BJP national president JP Nadda on Monday in New Delhi. Sources said the meeting remained inconclusive and the BJP decided to break ties with the JJP.
Meanwhile, the BJP has rushed Union Minister Arjun Munda, Haryana in-charge Biplab Kumar Dev and senior leader Tarun Chugh to Chandigarh where a legislative party meeting is likely to be held later today.
The leaders are also expected to meet the five independent MLAs and Gopal Kanda of the Haryana Lokhit Party (HLP) who had been supporting the BJP-JJP government in Haryana.
In the 90-member Haryana Legislative Assembly, the BJP has 41 MLAs. However, with five independents and Gopal Kanda, it’s numbers will reach 47, enough to form a new government.
