Haryana CM constitutes panel to examine cow deaths in Karnal

Days after 44 cows and a bull died under mysterious circumstances at a gaushala in Karnal district, the Haryana government on Thursday constituted a four-member inquiry committee to examine the matter.

An official spokesperson said keeping in view the gravity of the matter; the committee has been directed to submit its report within four days. While the commissioner, Karnal Division, Saket Kumar is the chairman of the committee, vice-chairman, Gau Seva Aayog Haryana, Puran Mal Yadav, deputy director (AW) animal husbandry and dairying department Sukhdev Rathee and nominee of superintendent of police Karnal are the members of this panel.

On 26 January, 44 cows and one Bull died at Gaushala and Nandishala located at Phushgarh village in Karnal. This gaushala run by a religious organisation comes under Karnal Municipal Corporation (KMC) and mostly stray cattle are rehabilitated in this gaushala. Poisonous fodder is suspected to be the reason behind these deaths of the animals.
