Harda firecracker factory owners arrested in MP

Police have arrested the absconding owners of the Harda firecracker factory, where a fire accident claimed at least 11 lives, from Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh late Tuesday night.

According to police officials, the trio — Rajesh Agrawal, Somesh Agrawal and Rafeeq Khan — was on the run after the fire and explosions in the factory on Tuesday morning, which have so far claimed 11 lives and left more than 150 injured.

The death toll could increase as some of the injured are in serious condition.

The police nabbed the absconding owners from Sarangpur in Rajgarh district at about 9.30 pm Tuesday. They have been booked under Sections 304, 308 and 34 of the IPC and Section 3 of the Explosives Act at the Civil Lines Police Station in Harda.

MP Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav said he will go to Harda today to meet the injured and take stock of the situation, after attending the morning session of the MP State Assembly.

The Assembly session is being held from 7 February to 19 February.
