Government’s job is to improve economy, not to run ‘comedy circus’: Priyanka Gandhi Vadra

In a tweet on Saturday, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra lashed out at Union Minister Piyush Goyal for his remark on Nobel laureate Abhijit Banerjee, saying that the government’s job is to improve economy and not to run ‘comedy circus’.

On Friday, at a media briefing in Pune, Piyush Goyal, Union commerce and industry minister said Banerjee supported NYAY scheme, proposed by Congress, which was rejected by the Indian voters and there was no need to accept what he thinks.

Goyal also described Banerjee as a ‘left-leaning’ person.

NYAY, a minimum income scheme, was on the highlights of Congress manifesto for the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

“The economy is collapsing. Your job is to improve it, not to run a comedy circus,” Priyanka said in her tweet, tagging a media report that claimed that the slowdown in the auto sector continued in September.

The Nobel laureate did his work honestly and won the Nobel Prize, she said in a tweet in Hindi.

Abhijit Banerjee, an Indian-American has won the 2019 Nobel Prize for Economic Sciences. He has been critical of the Narendra Modi governement’s economic policies.
